Fox Sports Girl Of The Week: Angela

Fox Sports Girl Angela

Angela, the Fox Sports Girl of the Week, isn’t worried about the Detroit Tigers making the World Series and getting swept again.

“This is our year. Torii Hunter says it best, “If you’re hungry, EAT! That’s what Tigers do, we eat!” It is our time to get that championship ring here in Detroit,” she said.

When you have Miguel Cabrera, Prince Fielder and starters Justin Verlander, Max Scherzer, Anibal Sanchez, Doug Fister and Rick Porcello, there really are no excuses. Even the bullpen has settled down thanks to Joaquin Benoit in the closer position.

Follow Angela through the “Hunt for October” onĀ Facebook and Twitter.

Who is your favorite athlete?

Currently, Miguel Cabrera. He is an absolute blast to watch every game. We are watching history in the making.

What is your best sports memory?

Going to Comerica Park with my dad and grandparents and watching Justin Verlander pitch his first no hitter.

What sport would you play professionally if you could, and why?

Basketball. Back in the day, I played and absolutely loved it. Unfortunately, I was not good but made an excellent bench warmer! My lack of athleticism allows me to greatly respect and appreciate the abilities of professional athletes.

What’s your earliest memory of being a Lions fan?

I vividly remember my dad bringing me to the Silverdome when I was about 4 years old and chanting “BARRY BARRY!” My dad started my competitive drive at a very young age.

What’s the best assignment you’ve worked as a Fox Sports Girl?

We helped out with an awesome event called Keeping Kids in the Game hosted by Miguel Cabrera. The proceeds support children’s health and youth baseball programs. I loved chatting with many of our Tigers players and so many dedicated fans. Being a diehard Detroit fan, I was most thrilled to meet and get a picture with our manager Jim Leyland in the Tigers clubhouse. He is a legend!

Are you the least bit scared that the Tigers will make the World Series and get swept again?

This is our year. Torii Hunter says it best, “If you’re hungry, EAT! That’s what Tigers do, we eat!” It is our time to get that championship ring here in Detroit.

Where does Cabrera rank amongst Detroit’s all-time great athletes? Top five? Best ever?

I would definitely give him Top 5. He has the stats, but I would like to see what the rest of his career entails starting with a World Series title in Detroit. We’ve had quite a few great Detroit athletes in my lifetime (Barry Sanders, Isiah Thomas, Nicklas Lidstrom) and before my time (Gordie Howe, Al Kaline). It is too early to name him “Detroit’s best ever.”

What Lions player should we be following on Twitter?

Reggie Bush (@ReggieBush) has already brought great energy on behalf of the Lions to the Twitter world. I am excited to see this same energy on the field as the season starts. I also must say our Tigers catcher, Brayan Pena (@cuban2727) is a riot! He is very interactive with the fans and has quite the sense of humor.

Rank these Detroit sports venues for best fan experience: The Joe, Ford Field, Comerica, The Palace.

1. Comerica Park 2. The Palace 3. Ford Field 4. Joe Louis

Which do you prefer: Matthew Stafford or Matt Stafford?

Matthew Stafford

Over/Under Lions wins this season: 9.5

Over… 11-5
