Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Matt Kemp is a native of Oklahoma. After seeing the devastation Monday’s F-5 tornado caused to Moore, Okla. and other nearby towns, Kemp took to Twitter after Monday’s Dodgers-Brewers game to pledge $1,000 for every home run he hits from now through the 2013 all-star break.
I’m giving $1000 for tonight’s HR and every HR until the All-Star break for the victims of my hometown in OKC. #PrayforOklahoma

Kemp has struggled a bit at the plate in 2013, but who wouldn’t find his donation very kind and poignant? Twitter users, that’s who. They started bashing Kemp for being cheap by donating “only $1,000 per HR” — considering he makes $21.5 million and the time frame he set for the donation. They seem to forget him giving his entire uniform to the sick kid earlier this season.
The Kemp hate got even worse on Tuesday when Oklahoma City Thunder star Kevin Durant just straight out pledged $1 million. Durant didn’t mention Kemp, but the trolls on Twitter were quick to make the comparison. Not every tweet in the gallery below is NSFW, but they are scathing toward Kemp. He may want to consider a larger donation.
UPDATE: Like we said, Kemp is a solid guy. He pledged an additional $250,000.
