When your football team plays in Big 10 country and it’s not in the Big 10, you have to find unique ways to energize the program. Eastern Michigan head football coach Ron English knows this, so he’s ready to throw himself out of a plane for his school.
After updating some of EMU’s facilities, English still needs to raise more funds, so the school is holding a golf outing with a variety of ways to make money: autographs, golfing, an IndieGogo campaign, etc. However, if EMU raises more than $60,000, English will skydive with fans who make a $5,000 donation.
“I’m excited to be a part of something that’s never been done before on this level and at the same time, offer some memorable and once-in-a-lifetime experiences to some of our most dedicated and enthusiastic fans,” said English.
Fans still get to skydive even if the campaign falls short of $60,000, but English won’t take the plunge unless EMU boosters push the donation total over the goal line. Ballsy move by English.
You don’t see Urban Meyer or Brady Hoke strapping on a chute and crapping their pants at 10,000 feet.
