As we mentioned last week, it’s a slow time for NFL news — unless you’re Titus Young or longtime Buffalo Bills executive Buddy Nix. Nix, 73, stepped down as the GM of the Bills on Monday after working for the team for 20 years. Nix leaves the franchise in the middle of the longest current playoff drought in the NFL. The Bills last post-season appearance was in 1999, when they lost the “Music City Miracle” game to the Titans.
If Nix had any sense, he’d have stepped down a few weeks ago so that he could have joined the Bills’ cheerleaders — the Buffalo Jills — who finished shooting their swimsuit calendar in Florida last week. While Nix was busy freezing his ass off in the Niagara region trying to explain the drafting of EJ Manuel to the surly Buffalo media, the Jills have been hanging out on the beach with photographers. Bills reporter Hannah Buehle has kept Bills fans informed on important developments in the Jills calendar shoot.
