The Akron Aeros respect ‘The Vest,’ but they aren’t much on the color scarlet. The Cleveland Indians’ double-A affiliate will give away Jim Tressel bobbleheads to the first 1,000 fans entering Canal Park in Akron this Saturday. However, instead of the scarlet or grey that Tressel wore on the Ohio State sideline for years, the figurine of the legendary Buckeyes’ coach will be wearing a blue vest.
While the blue represents the University of Akron, where Tressel now has a pretty cushy sounding gig as vice president of strategic engagement, the blue color is probably a little too close to Michigan blue for most OSU fans. Tressel will be in attendance for the game, so we expect him to rock a nice blue sleeveless number. Get there early. The game starts at 6:05 p.m. (ET).
If the Jim Tressel bobblehead night is a success — and it will be; hell, there are probably 100 of them “missing” already — maybe the Aeros can do a bobblefist of Woody Hayes punching Clemson’s Charlie Bauman.
Here’s the Ohio State Tressel bobblehead that sells for $30 on eBay. An Urban Meyer OSU bobblehead goes for $50.
