Twitter Reactions After Kevin Ware Breaks Leg During Louisville-Duke Game

Kevin Ware Breaks Leg

Louisville’s Kevin Ware suffered what appeared to be multiple fractures of his right leg at the 6:33 mark of the first half of the Louisville-Duke Midwest Regional Final in Indianapolis on Sunday. The injury occurred after Ware contested a successful 3-point attempt by Tyler Thornton of Duke that made the score 21-20. After fanning on the block, Ware landed awkwardly out of bounds next to the Cardinals’ bench with his shin bone breaking through the skin, according to Laura Keeley, the Duke beat reporter for the Raleigh News & Observer and Charlotte Observer.

Game play stopped for approximately 10 minutes with the crowd hushed and Ware’s teammates visibly shaken. Ware was carted off the floor and taken away by ambulance.

Play resumed in front of the muted crowd. Louisville led 35-32 at the end of the first half. Twitter reacted to Ware’s injury with some of the NCAA’s biggest and best known fans weighing in with positive thoughts to Ware.
