You know what’s exciting in Los Angeles this time of year? The Lakers (15-16) are going on the road to play the Clippers (25-8) at the Staples Center. Those of you without Clippers season tickets can watch on ESPN at 10:30 EST. This will be the Lakers first game since a New Year’s Day loss to the 76ers, which led Kobe to saying his team was “old as sh*t.”
Of course, the Knicks entered the season as the oldest team in NBA history (average age of 32), yet have managed to enter today with a 22-10 record. The Lakers find themselves battling just to stay alive in the Western Conference race with Minnesota, Portland and Utah all battling for the 8th position.
Then there are the Clippers. The winning streak. The youth. And Kobe calling the Clippers a “top contender” for an NBA title.
It’s passing of the torch night, and the Clippers are throwing the party.
