Mike Trout Getting Yankees Jersey From Dave Winfield Is Ominous Sign

Dave Winfield yesterday tweeted this of Mike Trout and a Yankees jersey. Then Trout’s girlfriend, Jessica Cox, retweeted it. This all happened on the same day when Trout, a rookie, was runner-up for the A.L. MVP.

Angels fans don’t want to hear it, but Trout grew up in New Jersey idolizing Derek Jeter. Trout was selected in 2009 with the Yankees compensatory pick by the Angels at 25; the Yankees had scouted him hard and picked 29th. He can’t become a free agent until after the 2017 season.

As for how he’s handling his first offseason in his journey to a future contract with the Yankees, he’s still with Cox and all smiles.

It’s a long way to 2018.
