Most people would have trouble figuring out what Texas Rangers first baseman Jose Hamilton, free carpet and a former Texas Tech hottie have in common.
Thankfully, we’re here to tie things together for everyone.
CC Carpet, an Arlington, Texas carpet store, was offering free carpet and countertops to the locals if Hamilton hit a grand slam in the month of September.
Wouldn’t you know it? Hamilton jacked one in the Rangers 9-1 win over the Cleveland Indians last night. Free carpet and countertops for the people!
“The situation doesn’t come up often, so when it does you can’t help but think about it,” Hamilton said. “I’m in the business of giving back. I like to help people as much as I can by giving back. So that’s cool.”
In the commercial for the promotion we got introduced to CC Carpet owner Steve Fitzgerald’s 27-year-old daughter Morgan, who’s fairly easy on the eyes. That’s pretty much all we know about her, other than she helps her old man peddle carpet, but we pretty much just want to look at her anyway.
As for the promotion, it cost the store about $500,000. Thankfully they were insured or the next place we see Morgan would probably have been in bankruptcy court.
Oddly, these yahoos were able to get insurance for their home run promotion, but dog food in a shell giant Taco Bell was unable to get it for a similar promotion in 2006. They were planning to give away free tacos to everyone in America if a home run was hit to left in Game 3 of the World Series.
