16 days or so ago the Tampa Tribune wrote a tear-jerking story about how former NFL All-Pro linebacker Keith McCants was trying to get his life back after continuous visits to jail. He told the paper that “You want to kill the pain. You’re out of the NFL, they throw you out the door and those expensive prescriptions are gone. They take away your health insurance. The next best thing is street drugs because you’re desperate for the pain to go away.” He was arrested again – Sunday.
Keith McCants was booked in to Mobile Metro Jail Sunday on drug related charges. This is the latest in a long line of arrests for the former Alabama Crimson Tide linebacker. McCants was arrested back in April in Saint Petersburg, Florida, after police said they found him in possession of cocaine. The 43-year-old is being held without bond. McCants is expected to be in court later this week.
And there you have it.
The lesson here to the mainstream media and bloggers who were in tears over the McCants story: give the guy like 5 years of sobriety before slobbering.
This is probably the third or fourth story about McCants being arrested. Won’t be the last.
