L.A. Angels Set Lucha Libre World Record For Fans Wearing Masks At A MLB Game

So the Los Angeles Angels had the bright idea to set another world record last night during a Tuesday night game against the White Sox. Fans were encouraged to don Lucha Libre masks with hopes of setting a new Guinness Book of World Records mark.

According to MLB.com, the previous record was 250 fans wearing the masks. An official was on hand and the act of donning the masks “occurred as Howard Kendrick was smacking his second double of the night, giving the Angels a 6-1 lead over the White Sox.”

A specific number for the new record hasn’t been released, but from reading Mexican newspapers this morning, a challenge to this record will be coming.

The Angels, you might remember, set a record last year for most Snuggies worn by fans at an event, giving the team serious buzz in the sports marketing world.

Other Angels promotions that we have our eyes on would be Aug. 4 for Skater Hat Night, Aug. 18 Angels Knome Bobblehead Night and Aug. 23 for Rally Monkey Chia Pet Night.
