Drop It You Buy It: 2006 BCS Trophy Shattered

Gone forever: Leak’s baby has been shattered to pieces

This is why you should always buy insurance on a BCS trophy.

Florida officials have confirmed that the Waterford crystal that Chris Leak held like a 12-pack of high-end suds after the 2006 BCS game against Ohio State, has been destroyed. Multiple outlets report the crystal was knocked from its pedestal and fell to its death.

Luckily Florida had the intuition to buy a backup version of the $8,000 trophy. USA Today has even chimed in on this situation.

The school had promised fans a chance to have photos taken with the BCS trophy on Saturday at the Orange and Blue game so a second trophy was used for that event.

Somewhere in Ohio, Buckeyes fan finds this amusing.
