No off days for our friends @BellinoNBC and  of the Morning Blitz at Fox Sports Radio in Toledo. They ran through two hours of college football talk and then had this guy — Kari or is it Cari? — call in to give us all a lesson on CFB scheduling.
“Ohio State and Notre Dame, they don’t play anybody. They don’t play anybody this year on their schedule. Michigan had the guts to go to Utah,” he said.
Guts.” Did that Michigan fan really just say that? He did. This home and home against Virginia Tech was scheduled in 2002.

From 2003-12, the Hokies were 57-8 at home, then came some rough times. Even so, Va. Tech has 9 double-digit win seasons since 2002. Michigan has four. Utah has five. Notre Dame has 3.

You know how Finebaum is sitting on a goldmine with Auburn and Alabama fans always screaming at each other? Bellino is sitting on similar fertile ground here in Toledo where the state line is about seven miles north of the station where this show originates. Toledo really is the epicenter for the Ohio State-Michigan hatred because so many fans live and drink next to each other. I had a Costco sample guy talking shit about Ohio State back in July. This is ground zero.
Look, I’ve never seen so much whining in my life about scheduling. Nothing turns grown men into little babies like trying to figure out which school schedule the most cupcakes. I don’t even care how many cupcakes these teams schedule. Schedule all of your non-conference games against WAC schools. Do what TCU did last year. The CFB Playoff committee is just trying to put the four best teams in December into a four-team playoff. They also want to fill stadiums and make sure ESPN gets a huge rating.
So Notre Dame, Michigan, Florida State, the power SEC teams, Texas (one of these days when they are good again), USC, Oregon and any other team that can sell tickets to the CFB playoff shouldn’t worry about scheduling tough games in September. Get one decent OOC team on the schedule and that’s it.
