Bruce Arians Throws Illegal Challenge Flag, Tells Referee It Fell Out of His Pocket


Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians had a bit of a brain fart during his team’s Thursday night game against the St. Louis Rams.
Late in the third quarter, Rams cornerback Janoris Jenkins picked off a Ryan Lindley pass, which Arians decided to challenge. The only problem is that the play was going to be reviewed by the officials anyway—making Arians’ move illegal.

He tried to play the “It fell out of my pocket” card because why not?

Before telling that very grade school lie, Arians sent out lineman Lyle Sendlein to retrieve the flag—that was like 20 yards away—with hopes of no one noticing. He probably should have sent someone that doesn’t weigh over 300 pounds:
