When was the last time you saw a photo of a Pittsburgh Zoo sea lion photobombing Ben Roethlisberger? I’ll answer that for you: never. I’ve been running Busted Coverage for nearly seven years (anniversary is December 8) and there was the drunken Roethlisberger stage, the stage where he got real quiet after the six game suspension and then the pretty quiet marriage stage with his wife Ashley Harlan.
Now he’s to the zoo family photo stage.
It seems the Pittsburgh Zoo and the Roethlisberger family are back on good terms after a rocky split in 2010 over Ben’s actions at a Georgia bar where a 20-year-old college student accused him of sexual assault. The zoo acted swiftly.
A life-size image of Roethlisberger has been part of a display that compares the height of elephants to other creatures. But the facility is having a new sign made that will replace Roethlisberger’s image with one of former Pittsburgh Penguins star and team owner Mario Lemieux.
It’s great to see both sides bury the hatchet.
This also happened during Ben’s offseason at a Quaker Steak & Lube — tux shirt!
