Things get rolling in Sao Paulo on Thursday as Brazil opens against Croatia. This was probably the best stadium to open the tournament with the host nation’s fans. You wouldn’t want American fans walking up those stairs because they would start bitching about shoddy construction and threaten to call Brazilian OSHA.

If the stairs fail and people die, it won’t be a real big deal on American news channels.
