I have no idea if Mexican League pitcher Sean Gallagher is completely loaded with piles of cash that he throws into the air for fun while he’s watching Shark Tank. Maybe he made a huge pile of f-you money outside baseball where he only made $823,500 as a Major League pitcher for the Cubs, A’s, Padres and Rockies.
Now working as a starter in the Mexican League, Gallagher’s dreamy Ford F-250 diesel beast is for sale on eBay – starting bid $75,000.
Normally this wouldn’t get posted because so few of you have heard of Gallagher. Then I noticed a significant number in the truck info section: “The MLB player has over $138,000 into the vehicle and it shows. If you do not like attention, this is not the vehicle for you.”
Quick math: $823,500 (career MLB earnings) – $138,000 (for the truck) = $685,500.
I want all of you wannabe athletic studs out there to take notice. This is not what you spend your bonus check on. Take that money, put it into something moderately conservative and forget you ever received it. Go on with life. Play the game. Live in a $225,000 house with 4 bedrooms and 2.5 baths. Finish the basement and pretend it’s a South Beach club. Don’t eat steak. Eat pork chops at a local diner.
DO NOT GET CLOSE TO A TRUCK LOT. OR A LAMBORGHINI LOT. OR ANY OTHER CAR LOT.
Pay $10k cash for a Honda Civic from the local dealer and drive it until the motor blows up. Keep the oil changed. I’ll even let you tint the windows.
I’m looking out for you here. That f-you money isn’t going to last. Or don’t listen to me and sell your trucks and cars on eBay. I don’t mind because it’s blog material that pays my bills.
Sean’s truck is so nice that it made Truckin’ Magazine. Ahh, the memories. Here today, gone tomorrow.
