Where does Chris Carpenter move after selling his 10,800 sq. ft. St. Louis house with a 1,000+ wine bottle cellar and fancy man cave? Is he selling this insane house because it doesn’t conform to the “Cardinals Way”? Is this house unbecoming of a retired Cardinals player? Too extravagant?

Did Chris Carpenter overbuy this house and develop guilty feelings that are leading him to sell it for $3,650,000?

How is Carpenter able to just walk away from all this custom millwork? I’m actually confused. It’s not like the guy is broke – that I know of. He made $98,592,956 during his MLB career and is now working in the Cards’ front office.

According to his realtor:

The amazing craftsmanship & practicality of this 1.5 story, 8000 sq/ft masterpiece is virtually endless. The finishes & attention to detail is unparalleled. Special amenities include full-brick/stone exterior, an oversized 4-car garage w/ lift, a luxurious chef’s kitchen w/ top-of-the-line appliances, walnut & mahogany floors w/ inlays & dovetails throughout, elegantly crafted custom matching millwork throughout, triple crown molding, soaring, vaulted, cathedral and coffered ceilings, balconies, columns, arches, bays, beams, built-in cabinetry, custom window treatments, front & rear staircases, and 3 fireplaces.

Just look at the photos. You’ll want the house.

Mortgage: $14,140
