Mets’ pitcher Noah Syndergaard may not reach the big leagues until later this season, but he is giving New York fans a reason to pay attention this spring. The 6’6″ right-hander with the high-90s fastball is the 11th-best prospect in all of baseball according to Baseball Prospectus.
Syndergaard, whom New York acquired from Toronto in the R.A. Dickey trade in December of 2012, made his Mets spring debut against the Atlanta Braves in Orlando on Monday. He allowed one hit and struck out two batters in two scoreless innings.
No one was more eager to find out how the tall Texan fared than his girlfriend, Samantha Van Veen. The Texas A&M senior was glued to Twitter to find out the glorious results of her dude’s first spring outing.
In addition to Syndergaard, Van Veen loves her dog Miley, the Aggies, guns and an occasional keg stand. We can’t wait for her to become BFFs with whichever model Matt Harvey is dating once he and Syndergaard are both in the Mets’ rotation.
