Let’s stop and think about this for a minute: The New York Times had the major interview – on a Sunday – and ESPN had Mark Schwartz on the ground in Missouri to interview teammates. Did ESPN hurry Schwartz onto a plane, get him to Columbia and magically come up with last-minute interviews on a Sunday night? Nope. This was all scheduled.
In the PR business, this is a home run. You leak the news Sunday night, let social media go nuts with it, lead the morning news shows on Monday morning and run with it all day on ESPN and radio.
Or you can just ignore it and not be shocked that some dude going into the NFL is gay.
