Carolina Padron LEAD

Hardcore baseball fans know that Mexico’s Naranjeros de Hermosillo defeated Puerto Rico’s Indios de Mayaguez, 7-1, to capture the Caribbean Series title in Venezuela on Saturday night. Famous Mexican outfielder Chris Roberson won the MVP. Yes, this guy.

However, casual baseball fans don’t care about the Caribbean Series. Hell, MLB is lucky if they watch the World Series.

Carolina Padron might change their mind. The ESPN Latin America/ESPN Deportes SportsCenter anchor and sideline reporter was the clear winner of the 2014 Caribbean Series while covering it for the WWL. She even got a signed ball from Ozzie Guillen!

The Carolina Padron File

• Born in Maracaibo, Venezuela; raised in Puerto La Cruz, Venezuela
• Also works for ESPN Magazine
• Filmed a “This is SportsCenter” commercial with Rafael Nadal
• Has a degree in social communication from the Universidad Santa Maria, Barcelona, Venezuela and has a masters in journalism from the University World and the CEU.

Our take: Padron is like Sofia Vergara meets Erin Andrews at a baseball game. What’s not to like?
