The Australian Open is the first Grand Slam tournament of the year and marks the official beginning of the tennis season. That means it is time for a fresh new start for some of these ladies. They can wipe away last year’s season and start fresh by upsetting a few high seeds or even advancing to the finals.
In 2010, Justine Henin entered the tournament as a wild card and ended up playing Serena Williams for the title before losing in three sets. Back in 2007 people forgot just how good Serena Williams was and she won the title as an unranked entry. So it can happen.
