Sunday’s NFL games helped finalize the conference championships… and showed that not all NFL playoff games are a thrill ride.

In the NFC, the 49ers avenged their regular season loss to Carolina by downing the Panthers in Charlotte, 23-10. Colin Kaepernick threw for one touchdown and ran for another, and Cam Newton didn’t exactly make a name for himself as a clutch post-season performer. The 49ers now head to Seattle for an NFC Championship game pitting asshole coaches who are damn near impossible to root for against each other.

On the AFC side, Peyton Manning and the Broncos almost came up small in the playoffs again, but their last drive moved the ball down the field just long enough to keep fiery Philip Rivers and the Chargers from taking a final shot at a tie. The Broncos’ 24-17 win set up another insufferable week of Manning vs. Brady hype on ESPN.
