Russia’s Kontinental Hockey League teams don’t have the same marketing resources as NHL franchises, so they sometimes have to use grassroots tactics to sell tickets, like using nightclub dancers in lingerie in their ticket box offices.
That’s what the KHL’s Metallurg Magnitogorsk did recently, as you can see in the video above. It was an obvious staged stunt, but that didn’t keep the team’s PR from backing it 100 percent:
“Hockey is a man’s sport,” Metallurg’s public relations specialist Anton Chaika said.
“What man wouldn’t like to look at a beautiful woman?”
We can’t imagine NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman saying that. NHL Commissioner Rob Ford, however, might be a different story.
