If you’ve ever wanted to snow tube from the upper deck of a ballpark down to its field, now is your chance. All you need is plane fare to Oklahoma City.
OKC’s Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark, the home of the Oklahoma City RedHawks, has two slides open for snow tubing this winter: one is 150′ long and another is smaller and not as steep. The ballpark has opened the slides in late November for the past few years. Check out an old first-person video of someone heading down the slide above.
The idea is among several activities designed to get residents downtown during the holiday season. Over the past 20 years, many ballparks and stadiums were built in downtown areas, but few have practical use after the baseball season is over.
Many fans have probably daydreamed about doing whatever they wanted in an empty ballpark, so this is a cool idea. They probably don’t open the beer stands, though.
