Sooners Fan Field Invader Who Got Lit Up By Cop: ‘It Was My First Game’

The big news this week in Oklahoma: the dude who ran on the field at Saturday’s Iowa State-Sooners game and was lit up by a state trooper has been identified. Ronald Butch Mais, 35, of Edmond, was arrested during the second half of the game after he did his thing on the field. Yep, 35.

The interesting part, according to the Norman Transcript, is that Mais was an OU virgin:

Mais said it was his first time to attend an OU football game and he just became overly excited.

“When OU was just smoking ISU, I just got excited. I was jumping up and down and the next thing I knew, I was jumping the fence,” he said. “I was just trying to rile up the crowd.”

The fan gave credit to the man who tackled him, Trooper Brian Orr, for a job well done.

“It was a good tackle. I wouldn’t expect anything less on that OU field,” Mais said. “One of the (officers) said, ‘Why didn’t you run out there naked?’”

Follow-up question: were you on drugs? Alcohol? Ever heard of Vodka Samm? We found Mais on Facebook: he’s a fan of Slayer, Sublime and Iron Maiden.

As for the cop, Brian Orr, he played linebacker in college. Bob Stoops was pretty impressed with his form:

Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops and an official at the game joked that Orr should’ve been flagged for targeting. Sooners players after the game praised Orr for his form on the takedown.

Defenseless receiver.
