Ref Stops Game To Lecture Middle Tennessee State Band To Stop Playing

‚ By

Ever heard of a ref stopping a Conference USA game to lecture a band to stop playing? That video is from last night at Middle Tennessee State where there was a HUGE conference showdown taking place on Fox Sports 1.

According to the NCAA rule book:

5. Persons subject to the rules, including bands, shall not create any noise
that prohibits a team from hearing its signals (Rule 1-1-6).
PENALTY—Dead-ball foul. 15 yards from the succeeding spot [S7 and S27].
Automatic first down for fouls by Team B if not in conflict with
other rules. Flagrant offenders, if players or substitutes, shall
be disqualified [S47].

Someone get that ref an advancement to the AAC. He’s way too smart to be busting his ass in Conference USA.

As for the game, it ended up being a classic. MTSU won on the final play, a 9-yard touchdown pass, to win 51-49.
