Royce White flying? Biggest surprise of the NBA pre-season (which absolutely no one cares about).
White tweeted the picture above on Wednesday evening. Perhaps he was on the Philadelphia 76ers’ charter to Charlotte, where they are scheduled to play the Bobcats on Thursday morning (11 a.m. ET)? Or maybe they ran him out of town after committing four fouls in three minutes last week.
If you are unfamiliar with White, it’s in part because the talented forward from Iowa State has yet to play in an NBA regular season game in part because of his anxiety disorder that has frequently prevented him from flying; he missed the Sixers’ European trip earlier this month.
After being drafted in the first round of the 2012 NBA Draft by the Houston Rockets, White played for the Rio Grande Valley Vipers in the D-League in 2012-13 and was traded to Philly along with center Furkan Aldemir and cash from the Rockets this summer in exchange for a future draft pick.
If White can consistently fly – instead of consistently foul — the Sixers could have stolen a solid player from Houston. If not, the Philly fans are going to absolutely clobber him.
