BC’s Joe Kinsey told you last year about Redskins’ running back Alfred Morris driving a 1991 Mazda 626 nicknamed “Bentley” that was worth about $1,000.
After Morris gained 1,613 rushing yards during his stellar rookie campaign in 2012, many assumed he’d upgrade, but he just couldn’t ditch his favorite ride.
Well, Mazda heard the story about Morris and his attachment to Bentley and agreed to refurbish the car for him free-of-charge. They even gave him a 2013 loaner while they made his whip new inside and out. See the restoration process here.
Mazda delivered Bentley to Morris today in Chantilly, Va., including:
• fully overhauled engine
• new brakes
• new exhaust system
• leather interior
• new radio featuring a CD player and a navigation system
• back-up camera
“She looks different, but it’s still the same car. It a feel thing. Sometimes when something changes, you’re like, ‘Oh man, I want it the old way.’ But when I sat in her, I still got that feeling. She’s still The Bentley.” …
“I just want to ride around and go nowhere in her,” he said. “I’ll bet she’s been missing it.”
Now that’s love… Big questions: his four-year $2.223 million contract not withstanding, what type of tail does Morris pull in a 1991 Mazda 626? And, when is he going to start breaking loose on defenses this season?
