Even though there were no upsets, it was a big Saturday for college football. Fourth-ranked Ohio State escaped Evanston with a 40-30 win over No. 16 Northwestern.
The most curious play of the OSU game was the last: a fumble on a desperation play by the Wildcats. The Buckeyes recovered it for a touchdown with no time left…covering the spread….Seems totally legit.
In other late action, No. 5 Stanford beat No. 15 Washington, 31-28, and Notre Dame took out No. 24 Arizona State in a battle of uniforms you’ll probably never see again (check the gallery).
Top-ranked Alabama thumped Georgia State, 54-3. Katherine Webb kissed QB A.J. McCarron before the game this week (gallery), and DeAndrew White may have made the catch of the year. Watch:
The most eye-popping scores came from No. 8 Florida State’s 63-0 dismantling of No. 25 Maryland; second-ranked Oregon’s 57-16 win over Colorado and Baylor’s 73-42 laugher over West Virginia. Baylor rolled up a Big 12-record 864 yards. Subtle.
Former Mountaineer QB Pat White is not a fan of WVU head coach Dana Holgorsen:
