Matt Harvey was hired by Qualcomm to go on a media tour today talking up some product that the telecommunications company is promoting. It was nothing out of the ordinary for a Wednesday when football news is light. Company A hires baseball player to chirp about Product B.
It’s unclear where Matt stopped first on the tour. We’ll guess he chatted with a couple morning radio shows. Maybe three radio shows.
And then he went on Dan Patrick’s show and didn’t want to talk about his arm. Matt was only there to talk about Qualcomm and the #fantasking hashtag. So Dan let him promote the product unabated. Free advertising time.
Matt also went on MLB Network and had a #fantasking advertisement behind him. It was a busy day of promoting #fantasking…#fantasking…#fantasking…#fantasking…#fantasking…#fantasking.
The return for Qualcomm: 14 #fantasking tweets as of 5 p.m. EST in 24 hours. That’s it. 14! See screencaps below.
How does that compare to other hashtags over the last 24 hours?
• #MetsSuck = 5
• #Zit = 5
• #Qualcomm = Hundreds (remember, the campaign was for #fantasking)
• #IHateMyMom = 4
• #ItchyBalls = 4
• #LickMyBalls = 8
All in all, it was a pretty productive day for Qualcomm and Matt Harvey.
