If you’re in Louisville, be on the lookout for a $450,000 white Lexus LFA sports car. It’s Rick Pitino.
That number comes from a friend of BC who is a general manager at a Lexus dealership. He tells me that there were around 700 LFAs produced this year. Update: Wikipedia says 500 of the LFA’s were produced and production ended in December 2012.
Rick was spotted a couple times this week in what we assume is his new 2013 LFA because we can’t find any chatter from Louisville message boards regarding Pitino driving one of these.
The Lexus LFA features an all-new 4.8-liter V10 developed exclusively for use in the high-dollar supercar. Power is rated at 552 horsepower and 354 lb-ft of torque. Although maximum twist doesn’t come on until the needle sweeps past the 6,800rpm mark, Toyota says that 90 percent of the LFA’s torque is available between 3,700rpm and the screaming 9,000rpm redline.
This guy turns 60, wins a national championship, has a decent horse business and made $425,000 for winning the NCAA title to go along with his $5.7 million salary. Life doesn’t get much better.
