Fox Sports Girl Of The Week: Angie
Angie, the Fox Sports Girl of the Week, has high hopes for the Minnesota Vikings this season. She thinks Christian Ponder could have a breakout season. But don’t ask her to compare Ponder to Brett Favre’s two seasons in Minnesota.
She Won’t fall into that trap. Favre or Ponder: “Is that a trick question? Favre had a couple of good seasons in Minnesota after a legendary career in Green Bay. Let’s give Ponder a few more years before we start trying to make such a comparison.”
Ponder, who struggled at times last year to move the Vikings offense, will need to be ready right away this season as Minnesota starts on the road at Detroit and Chicago. He’ll also face the Giants, Bengals, Seahawks, Cowboys and Ravens on the road.
Who is your favorite athlete?
Adrian “All Day” Peterson. The man is a beast. Nothing beats watching him break loose and having him take it all the way for a touchdown!
What is your best sports memory?
There are so many to choose from, but since I’m in football mode I’m going to have to say the Vikings/Cowboys game in 2010 that sent us to the NFC Championship. Everything clicked for our team that game and we were unstoppable. The energy in the Dome was unreal. I hope to experience that feeling again this season!
What sport would you play professionally if you could?
Football! I would love to experience the rush you must get from running down the field with the football while dodging 200lb defenders trying to tackle you…Or completing a Hail Mary pass to the end zone in the final seconds of a game for the win…Or sacking the QB and doing my own little victory shimmy. There isn’t a part of the game that I don’t love!
What’s your earliest memory of being a Vikings fan?
Growing up, instead of watching cartoons on Sunday mornings, it was Vikings games.
What’s the best assignment you’ve worked as a Fox Sports Girl?
Last year when all of the FOX Sports Girls met up in LA for the FOX Sports Girls Fantasy Football League draft! I was totally in my element and it was fun to have some friendly competition amongst all the regions. We ended up coming in 2nd in the league and we’re coming back with a vengeance this season! Look out for Purple Reign! :)
Better Vikings QB: Brett Favre or Christian Ponder?
Is that a trick question? Favre had a couple of good seasons in Minnesota after a legendary career in Green Bay. Let’s give Ponder a few more years before we start trying to make such a comparison.
Have you ever secretly worn a cheesehead out of curiosity as to what it looked like on your head?
Nope! Never have, never will.
More annoying fans: Bears or Packers?
Packers fans. Sorry FOX Sports Wisconsin Girls…still love you though!
What Vikings player should we be following on Twitter?
2013 Pro Bowl MVP, Kyle Rudolph (@KyleRudolph82). He’s very active on Twitter and always takes the time to thank his fans. He also posts some fun “behind-the-scenes” pics of him and his teammates.
What are you expecting out of Adrian Peterson this season?
I honestly don’t know what to expect. He shocked everyone with his record-breaking comeback last year and I wouldn’t be surprised if he did it again. #MVPeterson!
Tell readers who’ve never been to a Vikings game what they shouldn’t miss on gamedays in Minneapolis.
We have some of the most intense, hardcore fans in the NFL, so I would definitely suggest checking out the tailgate scene! There’s nothing like seeing hundreds of people all clad in fur and horns walking the streets of Minneapolis in the middle of a snow storm. Sound the Gjallarhorn!
Over/Under Vikings wins this year: 7.5
Come on…OVER! I’m feeling another playoff run! SKOL VIKINGS!!
