Fans lined up at Prince George’s Stadium in Bowie, Md. on Sunday afternoon in the hopes of getting a Manny Machado Garden Gnome. As usual, there were people who just showed up to get themselves a gnome and sell it on eBay. Yes, there’s a robust after-market for gnomes.

The first 1,000 fans through the gates prior to the Bowie Baysox – Richmond Flying Squirrels game on Sunday were to receive a tiny figurine of Machado. The Baltimore Orioles all-star third baseman played with the Double-A Baysox before being called up to the Orioles in August of 2012.

Some fans got their Machado gnomes and immediately put them up for sale. There were already two gnomes available on eBay as of 5:30 p.m. (ET), even though the game wasn’t scheduled to start until 6:05 p.m. (ET). The gnomes were priced between $25 and $31.

Unfortunately, not everyone who arrived early got a gnome. Many went home disappointed.

Tough times. At least the Orioles beat the Rockies 7-2 at Camden Yards on Sunday.
