Is Fox Sports Girl of the Week Corinne the least bit scared of where Mike Trout will be 10 years from now?
“He will be wrapping up his 12 All Star Game appearance as an Angel. Hitting 45 Home runs leading the Halos to another World Series title on his way to the Hall of Fame. I won’t even respond to the Yankees reference as we all love Trout too much to even hear such an unpleasant thought.”
But Corinne wants him to stay in Southern California with the Angels, and to continue to dominate just like he did during his rookie season. His 2013 numbers: 16 HR, 61 RBI and hitting .324 with 22 stolen bases.
Who is your favorite athlete?
Tim Salmon. He started as an Angel and continued all 14 seasons of his career as an Angel. And similar to the Angels organization, his career had the highest of highs; 299 home runs (most in franchise history) and lowest of lows; 1360 strikeouts. He was the AL Rookie of the Year in 1993 and was a big part of the 2002 World Series Championship team. His heart has and always will lie with the Angels, just like mine.
What is your fondest sports memory?
Being at Game 6 of the 2002 World Series, Giants v Angels. Angels trailed 5-0 to the Giants in the bottom of the 7th when Spiezio hit a 3-run homer that rallied us closer to a win. Then Erstad hit a solo homer quickly followed by Glaus hitting a two-run double that gave the Angels a 6-5 win. The energy in the stadium that day was unlike anything Ive ever felt. Angel fans had been waiting for this moment for 41 seasons. It was incredible.
What sport would you play professionally if you could, and why?
I would be a quarterback. Completely far-fetched considering I am female but I love football, I come from a football family and who doesn’t dream of being the “Star Quarterback”?? Yup, even I do. Move over Aaron Rodgers, you’ve got competition! (I wish)
What’s your earliest memory of being a Angels fan?
I grew up in Orange, Ca right down the street from Angel Stadium and I remember that being our family outing. Back in those days (yes, I said that), it was free entry after the 6th inning so my Mom, Dad, Grandma and brother would go cheer on our Halos a few times a week. You could say my love for our Angels began at a young age.
What’s the best assignment you’ve worked as a Fox Sports Girl?
Going to New Orleans last year for the Super Bowl. It was pre-Mardi Gras and as you could imagine, quite a collaboration of fans. Experiencing the city’s authenticity and hanging with the die-hard sports fanatics was an absolute blast.
What member of the Angels should we be following on Twitter?
CJ Wilson! He is a funny dude and a lot more than a ball player. The guy also races cars in his spare time amongst a ton of other extracurricular activities. He’s just an all-around good person and I think, a great Angel. Give him a follow!! @str8edgeracer
Isn’t the name Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim way too long and confusing?
Haha!! Of course it is!! No OC fan cares to have LA’s name on the team but we get it. You gotta try to appeal to the larger fanbase and grow somehow. I just wish all LA fans understood the business of the name change.
Why don’t more celebrities go to Angels games? I’m pretty tired of all these bandwagon Dodgers celebs.
For starters, its probably because they live in LA! I always make this joke being from OC but its true. If you live in LA, everything south of you is San Diego and if you live in San Diego, everything North of you is LA. For some reason, OC doesn’t get to be on the map. As for real Angel fans, they are true and loyal and have gone thru more downs than ups to cheer for this team. As we all know… its way easier to cheer for a winning team.
Say I’m going to go off the rails with this diet I’ve been on & don’t want to eat tofu at Angel Stadium, what am I eating at an Angels game?
Besides the hot dogs, pizza and ice cream in a helmet… There’s a new taco bar that opened and the steak tacos are delicious! Worth all the calories if you opt out of tofu.
Where do you see Mike Trout 10 years from now? Playing for the Yankees & hitting 45 home runs?
He will be wrapping up his 12 All Star Game appearance as an Angel. Hitting 45 Home runs leading the Halos to another World Series title on his way to the Hall of Fame. I won’t even respond to the Yankees reference as we all love Trout too much to even hear such an unpleasant thought.
