The big news from last night in baseball has to be that Olivia Wilde took BP and then participated in a wiffleball game in Kansas City. It’s obviously very rare for a celebrity of Wilde’s level, or any female celebrity, to wear a Royals jersey so Friday was a big deal to the locals.
That’s the beauty of Big Slick Celebrity Wiffle Ball Game, which on Friday celebrated its fourth year at Kauffman Stadium: It’s a water-balloon-tossing, beer-swilling, starry-eyed load of anything goes. The only rule is that they’re allowed to make up the rules as they go.
It’s bad wiffle ball for a great cause: “Big Slick,” now in its fourth year, has raised roughly $1 million for the cancer center at Children’s Mercy Hospitals and Clinics, the brainchild of the families of a trio of Kansas Citians-gone-Hollywood: Jason Sudeikis (“Saturday Night Live”), Paul Rudd (“Anchorman”) and Rob Riggle (“The Hangover”).
