Los Angeles Dodgers’ outfielder Yasiel Puig hasn’t even been in the big leagues for a week, and he’s practically the front-runner for the National League Rookie of the Year Award. In addition to hitting four home runs in his first five games, Puig has been putting on a throwing clinic in right field.
On Saturday at Dodger Stadium, the Cuban Cannon easily threw out Atlanta’s Andrelton Simmons when the Braves shortstop tried to go first-to-third on a single by Jason Heyward in the fifth inning. As you can see in the video above, it was a total joke. Somebody get Simmons an advance scouting report so he knows who he is running on next time.
How good was Puig’s throw? This good:
Just heard Charlie Steiner compare Puig’s throw in the 5th to Clemente…

Later in the game, Puig dove into first base on an infield single. It looked like he hurt himself, but since he’s apparently made of Adamantium, Puig stayed in the game. The Dodgers lost, 2-1.
