FOX Sports Girl Of The Week: Stephanie
Stephanie, the Fox Sports Girl of the Week, is focused on her Red Wings beating the Chicago Blackhawks in Game 7.
She is even willing to grab an octopus from the ice, if that’s what it takes.
There is still plenty of hockey to be played before there will be any drinking from the Cup, including three periods of hockey at the United Center on Wednesday night. After leading the series 3-1, the Red Wings have given up eight goals over the last two games.
One game. Three periods. Stephanie is ready for the Wings to close this one out and move on to the Western Conference finals.
Who is your favorite athlete?
Who is your athlete or celebrity crush, and why?
Tom Brady–not only is he incredibly handsome, his intelligence and success as quarterback sets him apart from the rest!
What is your fondest sports memory?
Definitely, Magglio Ordonez’s game-winning home run that sent us to the World Series in 2006.
What sport would you play professionally if you could, and why?
I would play basketball… don’t laugh until you’ve seen my jump-shot! ;)
What’s the coolest assignment you’ve worked as a Fox Sports Girl?
Going to games and meeting fans while celebrating our Detroit sports teams has been unforgettable. The most fulfilling assignments are the ones where we get to volunteer for local charities and organizations. Recently, I had the pleasure of helping out at an event for the Michigan Humane Society and, naturally, I came home with a puppy.
If you can only have one title this summer, should it go to the Tigers or the Red Wings? Why?
I love my Red Wings… but the Tigers are due for a World Series win, it’s been 29 years. We came so close last year, the Tigers want it and I definitely see them finishing the job they started last year!
What’s up with the Red Wings fans and octopi? Ever handled an octopus pulled from the Joe ice?
Hey, whatever it takes to get another Stanley Cup! It’s a long-time tradition dating back to the 1952 Stanley Cup Playoffs. I have not handled an octopus from the Joe ice–it would definitely be great honor though! I could wear gloves, right??
Say the Red Wings go on to win the Cup. What would be the perfect night with the Stanley Cup?
I think it would only be appropriate to tour downtown Detroit with the Stanley Cup and hit all the local watering holes for a celebration drink from the Cup. Obviously, the whole Red Wings team in tow. Sign me up!
Playoff beards: Fan or not a fan?
Fan. Superstition + tradition + scruffy beard = a good look ;)
Who is living larger right now in that city? Jimmy Howard or Miggy?
Miggy… He might be the first baseball player EVER to win two Triple Crowns in a row.
