When we last checked in with Rachel Wray (@CheerleaderMMA), a former Kansas City Chiefs cheerleader turned MMA fighter, she was just coming off a very bloody battle that she lost (should’ve won) via decision and the day-after photos were tough to look at.
But Wray snapped back.
She’s featured in the May issue of Fight magazine and tells Fox Sports Kansas City that she didn’t want to come off as a ring girl. She’s a fighter with a 3-1 record. Poses she turned down for the photoshoot included legs open, topless and hands on knee type shots.
“There were several times where I said ‘no’ to certain things, because I didn’t want to come off like a ring girl,” says the 23-year-old fighter, who recently left Kansas City to return to her native Arkansas in order to train while working full-time. “But it was fun. I think the pictures turned out great.”
As for when Rachel will fight again, she tweeted last night: “Hang tight fans. Will be fighting again soon, I’ll let y’all know as soon as its finalized(.)”
