Tampa Bay Rays Sideline Reporter Kelly Nash Nearly Drilled During Selfie
Kelly Nash is the new Tampa Bay Rays sideline reporter we told you about earlier this year. This gig with the Rays is her first big full-time job in baseball and she’s been busy documenting the ride. On Saturday, Nash tweeted a selfie from batting practice before the Astros-Red Sox game.
She just happened to be in town shooting a future story for Fox Sports Florida when this moment was captured.
“Producer Art Dryce had called out ‘heads up!’ a few times while I was taking pictures around the left field section, but none of those balls actually fell close to me, so I took my chances turning my back on batting practice for a picture.
“My whole family is from Massachusetts, and I knew they would be so excited to see me working at Fenway Park, and when I went to text them the picture I noticed the baseball by my head!”
Let this be a lesson, rookie sideline reporters. Always be careful when taking selfies at the ballpark. You never know when you could suffer a career-ending BP shot to the head.
