J-E-T-S… Mess! Mess! Mess! After being unable to come to terms on a long-term deal with Pro Bowl cornerback Darrelle Revis, the New York Jets traded their star defensive player to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday night.
In exchange for Revis, who was only recently cleared to resume running after ACL surgery last fall, the Bucs sent the Jets the 13th overall pick in Thursday night’s NFL draft and a conditional pick in 2014. Prior to the trade, Revis agreed to terms on a new, six-year, $96 million contract with the Bucs, making him the highest-paid defensive back in NFL history. On the way out the door, someone in the camp of Revis threw a final dart at the Jets:
“The organization is not committed to winning,” a source close to Revis told Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News.
Revis himself was more diplomatic:
& learned a lot. The memories I had in New York I will keep dearly to my heart. I want to thank all the jets fans for making me feel welcome

It should be interesting when Tampa Bay comes to MetLife Stadium to face the Jets in Week 1 of the 2013 NFL season. Jets fans took this news as well as you might expect (even resorting to listening to Nelly Furtado music). Rather than focus all their hate on Revis, are jumping all over the team on Twitter.
There was a oft-repeated theme that constantly popped up on timelines: “F— The Jets!”
@nyjets fuck the jets fuck woody faggot, done being a fan, I’m heart broken. U keep sanchez but not revis FRONT OFFICE IS FKN TERRIBLE!!!!
