South Florida radio host Jason “Big Mama” Jones has a new tattoo. The Fort Myers morning show host kept his promise to get a Florida Gulf Coast tattoo if the hometown Eagles won their second round game over Georgetown. FGCU used a high-flying highlight reel offense, nicknamed Dunk City, to beat the #2 seed Hoyas, 78-68, meaning Mama would need to payoff the bet.
Of course there was the bonus win in the third round over San Diego State, making FGCU the first #15 seed to advance to the Sweet 16 in tournament history.
According to the Naples (Fla) News, it’s believed that the Dunk City name, used during the season by the school’s sports information department in game notes, gained traction on Twitter during the Georgetown game. The team had five dunks in that game, including this beautiful lob.
Big Mama (@bigmama1039) and the 103.9 morning show, called The Wild Bunch, turned the tattoo into a bit that has gained traction nationally and is now believed to be the first official “Dunk City” tattoo.
