Rockies Outfielder Dexter Fowler Looks Like An Astronaut In Compression Suit [PHOTOS]
Spring Training is underway! Rockies outfielder Dexter Fowler is taking extra precautions early on by wearing this astronaut-like suit. Just what is this thing? Is it totally necessary? Will it get him back in his 2010 form when led the majors in triples?
Lets take a look.
This thing is called the NormaTec MVP Recovery System. According to the website:
The NormaTec MVP Recovery System provides dynamic compression and performance recovery for athletes at all levels.
A unique, synergistic waveform that mirrors typical physiology. Incorporates pulsing compression and directionality of flow and leaves muscles refreshed and rejuvenated.
Here was Fowler’s tweet announcing why he is using this wacky contraption:
We get that he wants to stay healthy, we really do, but does this suit seem entirely necessary about a week into camp? It would make sense to see players utilizing this suit during the season, as the wear-and-tear accumulates.
Does the batting practice and fly ball shagging really force players into these space suits? I guess you really never can be too careful.
These things are expensive so don’t get any ideas to pick one up for your rec basketball league. They retail for $1,750, plus about $100 for any needed accessories.
