Tampa Rays’ Reliever Joel Peralta Injures Neck Getting Sandwich
Baseball is back! We have our first bizarre spring training injury, courtesy of Tampa Bay Rays reliever Joel Peralta. Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay times is reporting that Peralta injured his neck getting out of his car after making a sandwich run.
Yahoo says Peralta was in a Camaro when he suffered the injury.
Topkins followed up his first tweet with the following message, allowing Rays fans to breath a deep sigh of relief:
After doing a little more digging we found another tweet from Topkin letting us know which type of sandwich joint Peralta risked his neck for. Turns out it was a place called Cuban Taste, a small place in Port Charlotte, FL.
The place has 4/5 stars on Yelp. At least we know Peralta didn’t get hurt over a crappy chicken parm from Quiznos.
Peralta, who was suspended last year in a pine tar fiasco, is set to make $6 million over the next two seasons. Not bad for a guy with a career record of 10-21 and an ERA approaching 4.0.
