Johnny Manziel Legally Holding A Beer At Mark Cuban’s Super Bowl Party
That’s Johnny Manziel at a Super Bowl party holding what looks to be a cold beer. The young lady on the right is CBS 42 (Birmingham) reporter Alex Corddry ( @ACorddry). She ran into Scooby in New Orleans on Saturday at what looks to be the HDNet party where Manziel was hanging with Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel.
Before anyone gets crazy over Scoob hitting a cold one at Mark Cuban’s party, let’s take a look at Louisiana drinking laws for the under-21 crowd.
One can enter most bars at 18 years of age but must be 21 years old to purchase or consume alcohol. Also, it is legal in the state of Louisiana for a legal parent or guardian to purchase alcoholic beverages for their underaged child.
In other words, Manziel in New Orleans is a worst-case scenario for Texas A&M’s push to make Manziel a more responsible Heisman winner. You might remember the conversation school officials had with Scooby and his parents after winning the trophy.
A&M athletic director Eric Hyman said in January:
“It’s (about) education, and we’ve got to help the family and Johnny with the transition into being a Heisman award winner,” Hyman said. “There are things you have to learn, and we have to help him with that.”
• Never have your beer bottle in a photo at a Super Bowl party
• Never allow someone to snap a photo of you fanning cash at a casino
• Never hold a styrofoam cup on a French Quarter balcony with the Duck Dynasty crew.
• Never stand on a Bourbon Street balcony
There’s obviously much more training that needs to be done by the A&M front office. Luckily for us, the chat went in one ear and out the other.
We love watching this guy party at the Super Bowl or wherever. He’s a pageviews machine. A&M fans will ultimately think BC is picking on Johnny Cold One. That couldn’t be further from the truth. Yes, you’ve told us his family is loaded. His parents can buy him beers. He can gamble.
We love it all. Please don’t stop being Johnny Football.
