We have featured some strange vehicles over the years on BC but to our knowledge this is the first go-kart. It was previously owned by former Dallas Cowboys tight end Pettis Norman and is now up for auction on eBay with bids starting at $500.
Norman, a 16th round pick out of Johnson C. Smith University in 1962, had a solid NFL career. He played for the Cowboys from 1962-70, starting at TE in Super Bowl V. He then moved on to San Diego for the final two years of his career.
He ran into some legal trouble a little over a year ago and was actually subpoenaed by the FBI. Who knows if that is playing into his decision to unload this timeless classic, but it is worth mentioning.
Here is some information on the vehicle itself directly from the eBay listing:
The car was won by Mr. and Mrs, Norman in a charity auction at Texas Motor Speedway years ago. It is powered by a Briggs & Stratton 3.5 Horsepower engine and is perfect for beginner Go-Kart drivers. This Go-Kart also makes an excellent conversation piece.
Nothing like a 20+ year old go-kart to really spark the conversation! Buy this piece of history today.
Looks a little beat up in the photos, right? Don’t worry, the seller has provided video footage of the kart in action to prove that the wear and tear is nothing to worry about.
