Butler Beats Gonzaga On Roosevelt Jones Buzzer-Beater [VIDEO]
Roosevelt Jones had a better Saturday night than you did. Sure, maybe you had a fine evening: a date, some wine, maybe you even got laid. Well, Butler’s Roosevelt Jones did the following, all in 3.4 seconds:
To summarize, with thirteenth-ranked Butler trailing 63-62 with 3.5 seconds to play, Jones stole the inbounds pass from Gonzaga’s David Stockton (son of THE John Stockton) at half-court. He then dribbled into the front court and tossed up a running one-handed shot just past the elbow at the buzzer for a 64-63 win over the No. 8 team in the country, causing all of Indiana to rush the court and tackle him and his teammates. Oh, and ESPN’s Dick Vitale went into full-on seizure mode, too.
The baddest MFer on the court? Butler coach Brad Stevens, who at 0:05 in the video above starts walking toward Gonzaga coach Mark Few before Jones’ shot had even gone through the net. That’s ice cold, ‘Larry Legend’ ish right there.
