Our old photographer friend, Scott B., in Houston sent word yesterday that he had a candidate for our ‘America’s Next Great MMA Ring Girl’ contest. Scott reports, “Franky, who just turned 24 this past Monday, is a marketing major at the University of Houston where she was a cheerleader for a couple of years.” Wait, what? And he added that she’s a Hooters Girl?
Some parents call this a worst-case scenario. We call it a perfect storm.
Scott adds: “She also has been a MMA ring girl for Legacy which has fights throughout Texas on AXS TV(HD NET). She would like one day to be a UFC ring girl.”
20 years ago, models had dreams of being plucked by Don King. Now, it’s Dana White who has become the plucker. Just think of how cutthroat the ring girl business is. There are only so many cages to go around. How does one ring girl stick out compared to another? No idea.
Would Franky be the first former college cheerleader to become UFC Ring Girl? Our research says yes. It would be a major advancement for cheerleading. No longer would little girls figure the end of the road leads to the Saints sideline. Cages would be a different spoke on the career wheel.
Franky might just be the one to be a trailblazer.
