Authorities are searching for a man who robbed a Bessemer bank this afternoon.

The holdup happened just before 1 p.m. at the BB&T bank at 18th Street and Second Avenue North. The man, described by police as a white male wearing a red shirt and cap, entered the bank and demanded money. He fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.
