Our photographer friend in Houston, Scott Byrne, sent word this morning that he was just a couple rows away from near disaster at yesterday’s Texans-Dolphins game. “A Reliant Stadium official carrying away the part of the scoreboard that fell off above and hit some of the fans a few rows in front of me,” Scott reports.

That would be a panel from one of the LED scoreboards. Yes, a fan was injured.

According to Houston TV:

“Just fell right down on his head, caught one guy pretty bad, he was bleeding pretty good down his face,” said Larry Peters, another fan sitting in the same section. “I’ve seen a few things fall but that’s the first time I’ve ever seen anything like that fall.”

You might remember a couple weeks ago, a fan fell to his death while sitting on the handrail of a Reliant Stadium escalator.

As for what caused a piece of a scoreboard to fall, KPRC says this was posted to its Facebook page.
